It’s just a simple fluid

An artwork from the series “It’s just a simple fluid” was shown in 2021 at a Solo exhibition in St. Petersburg, in group shows “A leap in the dark” at Luda Gallery (St. Petersburg) and “Space for Art. Conflict check” at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Moscow).
“The fear of facing the red bodily fluid, a sharp needle entering my body, and then the Dark, smell of ammonia, wakening up in a cold sweat and burning up with fever, trembling of whitened lips under one’s stares.” — Anna describes her childhood fear of giving blood. The artist first fainted from the sight of blood when she was in the first grade. It happened when her desk mate cut his hand and the blood spurted out like from a fountain. It flooded the desk and a school bag.  Nowadays Anna is fully aware about her feelings before a fating spell when lights fading and unpleasant awakening afterwards.
Anna is afraid of veins on her hands and veins on her legs, she is afraid of dark red bodily fluid and simple cuts, afraid of not being able to provide first aid, artist is scared of giving birth, scared of bullet wounds and bloody scenes in the movies, she is scared of passing out again. Anna has even a fear of talking about all this. 
“It’s part of me. I am gradually sinking myself into it, exploring and scrutinizing it. I’m painting and modelling my fear. I’m doing it to learn it better and to not be scared” — Anna explains.
